Kuleana Culture
the Why?

Meet the Founder

Hi Everyone! My name is Morgan Murray and I am the founder of Kuleana Culture. And that's my husband Jono in the picture :)

I created Kuleana Culture in 2025 because I see the enormous problem we are facing with microplastic absorption, plastic pollution and unethical labor practices and I know I can provide a solution to that problem. Billions of dollars of active wear that is entirely made of plastic is produced and sold every year. There is also massive amounts of additional plastic involved in the lifecycle of these products. And some, not all, but some of these clothing brands practice unethical manufacturing practices. Some of this active wear is made in countries that have absolute disgusting, nightmare, heartbreaking labor practices. This is why all Kuleana Culture's products are made in Canada.

In addition to the sever environmental and health problems that plastic poses, I really do not like the way the polyester fabric feels on my skin. Yuk! I can't stand it. And it's amazing how these companies have convinced us that plastic is breathable. That is an oxymoron.

You may ask- why do some of Kuleana Culture's have spandex in them then? Spandex is plastic. Here's the thing- the only way to get stretch in clothing is with spandex. And if the clothes are not stretchy nobody will buy them and Kuleana will not serve as a replacement for the Lululemon's and Alo's of the world. Then we are right back in the same position- we need to be a replacement for polyester/nylon athleisure. So I figure that a 95% reduction in plastic is a very good start.
